Fat grafting is an outpatient procedure which involves harvesting your own fat from one part of the body (generally the abdomen and hips) and, re-implanting the fat via syringe to the lips. Local anesthesia or light general anesthesia is often used during the procedure, which lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Recovery time immediately following the procedure is 1 or 2 hours.
